Alfred & Constance has been listed within the top 50 must try places if you live in Brisbane. Thank to Lucid Media, Brisbane Food Lovers was able to put their Winter menu to the test!
The atmosphere of the place is superb, it has a rustic country cabin feed with a retro twist. The smell of roasting meat fills the entire space making a hungry stomach grumble.
Their Winter menu is perfect for Primal lovers, with a range of pig, beef, chicken or duck.
For starters we ordered the Crispy Calamari with Sweet Paprika Mayonnaise and the Memphs Ribs with Bbq Sauce. The calamari was perfectly crispy and the sizing portion was extremely generous. The ribs were exactly how I like them, saucy. Definitely worth the mess! The sauce was spicy yet had a hint of sweetness!
For mains we had the Spicy Lime & Chicken Skewers with Cous Cous, Tomato & Almond Salsa; The Josper Grilled Duck Breast with Puy Lentils & Quince; and the Cone Bay Barramundi with a Lemon Sea Salt Crust, Sauteed Potatoes & Sugar Snap Pees.
The Chicken Skewers were my favourite, they were cooked perfectly with a char-grilled flavour through. The lime cut through the rich flavour from the tomato salsa, making the dish balance out.
The Barramundi was as it should have been, perfectly crispy skin!It was light and fresh and all the flavours complimented the humble protein!
The Duck was beautiful! It was soft and easy to cut through and the flavours worked really well.
I would have to commend them on the sizes of their main meals, they are big enough to allow one to be satisfied yet not overly huge! Well just the way I like them!
And saving the best for last…..dessert! The Honeycomb Parfait with Chocolate Brownie & Warm Chocolate Sauce was our obvious choice! The Parfait was light and fluffy with a perfect crisp top! The chocolate sauce was not over powering and was just enough to balance out the sweetness!
If you have not been to Alfred & Constance I would definitely recommend trying out this little gem!
