If you haven’t been to Matt Moran’s Aria, I suggest you save up and spend a weekend enjoying the best that Brisbane has to offer. I was lucky enough to be treated to a 4 course tasting menu for my birthday. Priced at a reasonable $125 for 4 courses or $165 for 7 course tasting. The tasting menu allows you to sample some of Australia’s finest produce and gives you a sample of the best the restaurant has to offer.
The entire atmosphere at Aria is one of luxury, from the table setting, to the service and not to forget the lovely view of the Storey Bridge, the night is always framed for perfection.
Blue Swimmer Crab with Silken Tofu & Puffed Rice
This dish worked an absolute treat. Soft, silken tofu which was brought to life by the crispness of the puffed rice. There was also some avocado in the dish which worked really well with the spanner crab.
Grilled Sweet Pork Belly with Pear Currant Chutney & Crackling
The pork belly was cooked to perfection and worked extremely well with the sweetness of the pear. One of my favourite combinations. I was not a huge fan of the crackling, it almost had the consistency of a prawn cracker.
Roast Duck Breast with Celeriac, Apple & Gingerbread
If there is duck on the menu, I must have it! This was probably the best duck I have ever had! Tender and juicy and full of flavour. For an option on the Tasting menu the serving was quite generous.
Daintree Vanilla Parfait with Mandarin & Pomegranate
This lovely silken parfait was covered with a jelly like citrus film, paired with mandarin and what I would assume is honey covered quinoa.
