What we ordered: Nacho Tots, Southern Crispy Chicken, Chicken Tenders, Route 66 Burger, Oreo Shake, Strawberry Shake

GET THE SHAKES! We had the Oreo and strawberry shakes and absolutely loved them, they were full of decadent flavors and worked perfectly to complement the burgs.

The burger we tried was the Route 66! The onions and cheese paired well together with a perfectly cooked patty. The mayonnaise was not too much and allowed the flavors to flow together.

The Southern Crispy Chicken was perfectly breaded and served hot and nailed the southern flavor! The lettuce and tomato were both very fresh, and the mayonnaise also allowed the flavors to mesmerize our taste buds.

The chicken tenders had the same breading and were decently sized making for great value…definitely upgrade to 5 for the couple dollars extra! The ranch sauce wasn’t too harsh and went well with the breading spices!

Overall we left full and very satisfied with the service! They were extremely polite and quick! One note is that they are cashless, so have your card ready! Management was also very attentive to customers and made sure everyone was having a good meal. The old school aura went well with cool music and a younger vibe. Another interesting feature in here is the CrowdDj sort of jukebox! As sort of an Homage to vintage American diners, this feel contributes to the old school vibes with a modern touch! You can play your Spotify music on it while you enjoy your classic American burgers!

Peppers Hotel and View On Little Hasting | Noosa

So you’ve probably seen a similar post pop up through our newsfeed every year. Peppers Hotel, Noosa is our go to place to stay for Noosa Food & Wine Festival.

We always opt for a spacious 2 bedroom apartment, that way Charlotte and I can have our bathrooms when we get ready (cos you know that’s essential), and it always helps having a super comfy bed when you come home after a long day of eating good food and drinking amazing wine.

The hotel is located only a stones throw from Hastings Street, oh and if you are lazy like me, well you can catch a buggie up and down the hill. I love how the view from our room always overlooks a slice of forest, which for me personally is a dream come true. And to add to my getaway experience, Laguna Lookout is only a short 1.3km hike from the hotel. So all you early risers, definitely check it out!

If you are staying at the hotel, make sure you pop into View Restaurant. We had the pleasure of dining with Executive Chef, Andreas Nielson last year and got to first hand witness his passion for food. In fact, our dining experience at View made me re-fall in love with food all together. If you do have other plans for your evening and dinner is not on the cards, try out the buffet breakfast. We went absolutely crazy with it. I love how they have added gluten free bread options as well as an array of fresh fruit and chia pudding. Oh and there’s both soft and crispy bacon.

Yeah, that’s what I am talking about.

View all their rooms and rates here

Over Noosa Food & Wine Festival, View on Little Hasting will be showcasing Queensland’s fresh seafood with a dinner created by Brisbane chefs Ben O’Donoghue (Billykart) and Jake Nicholson (Blackbird Bar & Grill), 2016 MasterChef winner Elena Duggan and View’s Andy Wilcox. The dinner will take place on Saturday the 20th of May at 6:30pm ($140, book online).

The Croft House Brisbane

The Croft House is located at the Sebel Hotel on Charlotte Street and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. The restaurant is dedicated to bringing you the best local produce, focusing on authentic Modern Australian, share platters, specialty drinks, and a large selection of craft beers.  We recently visited the restaurant to try out their dinner menu – after hearing some rave reviews we were looking forward to trying the menu for ourselves.

Starters:

Pulled pork and potato croquettes – before visiting the croft house I had seen these delicious looking things pop up on various foodie social media accounts and heard nothing but good things about them so I was excited to give them a try. They did not disappoint! The coating was crunchy and golden and the filling of pulled pork and potato was amazing – to put it simply! These are quite large and because I am greedy I ate all of them. If you plan on having 3 courses it may be a good idea to share these so you can save space at the end for the textures of chocolate dessert – you don’t want to miss out on that!

ch4

Marinated Binnorie goats cheese – this starter was simple but delicious. The cheese was fresh and tangy and tasted delicious spread over the bread sticks. This is a nice, light option to start with.

ch3

Mains:

Darling Downs 150 day grain fed bavette steak – sweet potato, cafe de paris butter, lemon and watercress – The steak, where do I even begin with this succulent piece of meaty goodness? Perfectly cooked (medium rare) with the buttery-ness and sweet. Every bite left me wanting more.

ch1

Ricotta gnocchi – assorted mushrooms, wild mushroom cream, sage and brown butter. This has to be the best gnocchi dish I have ever tasted! I am a huge fan of mushrooms so naturally this dish stood out for me. The flavour combination was perfect and not once did the dish get boring (sometimes I find that gnocchi can be quite bland after a few mouthfuls). The gnocchi itself was light and fluffy and deceivingly filling.

ch5

Dessert:

Textures of chocolate – bittersweet mousse, chic fudge brownie, peanut butter malto and espresso ice cream. This is The Croft House signature dessert and we can certainly see why, each mouthful of this dessert was a surprise with many flavours and textures throughout. The mousse was rich and creamy and was accompanied perfectly by the malto, ice cream and brownie. We would definitely recommend that you save space so that you can try this masterpiece!

Fridays Riverside | A memorable experience | BBQ & BEATS

If you are over the age of 18, you have probably been to Fridays at least once over the past 3 months; Personally, it is one of my favourite club spots in Brisbane and I will admit to frequenting the venue at least 3 times a month (I vaguely remember being there 2 days ago). But every experience I have had at the river side location is vague (and no I am not an alcoholic), and I am sure a few of you can relate. On a totally different note, I paid the amazing bar a visit for their Sunday session (a sobering experience) and I was left wowed with some of the food that they have on offer. Definitely not going to forget it anytime soon.

Sundays at Friday (the irony of that statement) are filled with chilled out vibes, live music and light cocktails. Enough about the alcohol and music (they make me want to party), the food is amaze-balls too. Not your ordinary Sunday session pub grub, think classy share plates, that taste delicious but at the same time hold enough fat and greasiness to get you through Saturdays’ hangover. The entire menu is priced under $15 so you won’t be breaking far into the budget. My personal favourites on the menu are the BBQ Lamb & Haloumi Skewers, The Hickory Smoked Meat Balls & the Prosciutto & Rosemary Fries (Fries before guys ladies, remember that!). So grab your friends, sip on a few (not more that 2) cocktails and chill out at Fridays; it will definitely be an afternoon to remember.

Breakfast at Little Loco Cafe | New Farm

Location: 121 Merthyr Rd, New Farm QLD 4005

Meal: Breakfast

Price: $4 – $20

Overall Experience: 9/10

Food: 9/10

Service: 9/10

Little Loco Cafe, a cute, humble food destination that has made its’ mark in the Brisbane food scene by providing fresh, healthy and affordable food to the New Farm community. The space is a personal favourite, to a grab a coffee and escape the bustle of the city with my novel. The Brisbane Food Lovers crew took on their breakfast menu and left with happy bellies.

Here are some of the options we tried out:

– Avocado $16 (Avacado Smash, Tomato, Feta, Radish, Lemon & Basil on Sourdough with 2 Free Range Poached Eggs + $4)
If you have previously read some our posts, you would know that we have an absolute obsession with the humble avo on toast. The dish itself is so simple, that is very hard to hide behind. The presentation of the meal was flawless, and the flavours together worked well. For a more filling option I would recommend adding some poached eggs. The only negative I would say, is that the dish is fairy pricey but it tasted amazing so justifiable.
IMG_4286 IMG_4289 DSC03934 (1)
– Coconut Mango Panna Cotta $14.50 (Coconut Panna Cotta, Mango, Loco Granola & Orange Blossom Yoghurt)
The picture perfect Panna Cotta was light and silky paired with crunchy granola; the contrast in textures worked wonders. The yoghurt was a little sour for my liking and could have done with some additional natural sweetener. The mango, even though delicious, lacked practicality and would have better suited the dish if cut more appropriately.

– Breakfast Board $20 (Sourdough, 2 Free Range Poached Eggs, Avocado, Spinach, Tomato Relish, Haloumi and Bacon)
One word for this spread, amazing! Simply amazing. As if 2 beautiful poached eggs weren’t enough, they added haloumi and bacon too with avocado, oh my! The tomato relish however, did not work so well as it was more of a sauce. I would recommend an onion jam instead or perhaps eliminate this component all together.
rsz_dsc03938_1
– Nutella Loco Shake $10 (Nutella Milkshake topped with a Gluten Free Donut and Nut Crumb)
Okay so Nutella is probably one of the most overused menu items for 2016; I have to take my hat off to these guys for creating a Nutella inspired menu creation that actually tastes like Nutella. The milkshake itself was delicious, however I wish they had a regular doughnut option in addition to the existing gluten free inclusion.
rsz_1rsz_dsc03929_1
– Greenie Smoothie $9.50 (Spinach, Kale, Apple, Mango, Lime & Coconut Water)
Mmmm $9.50 for a smoothie that’s a bit excessive if you ask me, I would round it off to around $7. But in saying that, it tasted delicious and was packed with natural sweetness. A light, refreshing option in this warmer weather. Perfect for on-the-go chills at New Farm Park.
