A dangerously good menu | Burger Urge

[wzslider autoplay=”true”]

Yes, I did that on purpose. Pictures tell a story that words cannot express; And I am sure you scrolled through that slideshow, your eyes lit up, your heart sang, you found something you wanted to try. One could say it was love, a love affair with food. For me, Burger Urge did just that. They made my heart sing with their dangerously good, new menu. I wasn’t even there but I saw the pictures come through that night, “I need to pop by and try it”, I told myself. And I did just that.

Alongside old classics like the New Yorker, and their Thick Cut Fries, Burger Urge has added some seriously scrumptious dishes that need to be mentioned (Yes, they need to be). Let’s take a minute to recognise the mother of all goodness, The Big Momma’s Kentucky Fried Waffle; House made buttermilk chicken (Just the way momma made it), crispy maple bacon, melted American style cheddar, pickles, sriracha mayo & lettuce all served up some seriously tasty Belgian Waffles made by Big Momma herself. Sounds good huh? To me it sounds like happiness on a Sunday.

If the whole chicken and waffle remix isn’t your thing (Mind you, I have heard of a lot of people who cringe at the idea of having a sweet and savoury dish combined), there’s always the Boston Cheese. This American inspired burger still boasts Aussie goodness, made with prime ground Australian beef, with melted American style cheddar, pickles, Burger Urge special sauce, aioli and salad. It’s a bit more low key, but still packs a punch when it comes to flavour. Oh, yeah and before I forget, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Burger Urge for changing their buns in the American Style range to a glazed milk bun. It seriously makes a world of a difference having the sweetness of a milk bun contrast with good quality protein.

If you are a person with intolerance’s like myself, do not fear, they have something for you too. Burger Urge DOES have the option of a gluten free bun they are happy to omit certain ingredients to make for a vegan burger. All you have to do is ask, and they will be happy to cater to your needs.

Burger Urge launches their new menu

It has been over 6 months in the making, Burger Urge has finally launched a new menu after 3 years. The grandfather of burgers has been around for over a decade and has since opened 15 stores nationwide. The team have come together to recreate an innovate menu aligned with the fast growing burger trends. They have partnered with Brisbane Chef, Mel Townsend (Vanilla Zulu) to adapt the ‘extreme’ menu.

We were lucky enough to try out their new offerings, and I will admit they were on impressive.

ENTREE

Cos everyone needs a sexy, scrumptious side b**tch, I would suggest going hard on these. Thick Cut Fries, Sweet Potato Chips, Onion Rings & their oh so delicious Buffalo Wings. Everyone knows their fries, sweet potato included are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! But their wings took me to heaven. I was pleasantly surprised by the intense flavours and did I mention they actually have meat on their wings. Nothing disappoints more than scrawny wings with nothing to bite on.

Perfect for a hangover cure, I would recommend their greasy Chilli Cheeze Fries & Cheezy Chipotle Corn. The cheezyness though…. My insides are definitely well oiled after that! I love how they added in jalapenos and corn to the fries, technically makes it healthy with all those vegetables right..

MAINS

Moving on to the important part, the burgers of course.. I ordered the New Yorker which is personal favourite; can never go wrong with a burger that has maple bacon on it. Sandwiched together with prime ground Australian Beef, melted American style cheddar & hickory bbq sauce (would insert heart faced emoji If I could). That sauce though….The only negative comment I have is that the cheese was placed on top of the bacon rather than on the patty itself, but nonetheless it still tasted amazing. Also got in the Aussie spirit and ordered the Zorba (lamb) with haloumi, onion jam, basil pesto and to add to my daily fruit intake a piece of pineapple was included.

DESSERT

Kelis ain’t got nothing on these guys, there milkshakes definitely bring all the boys (and girls) to the yard. Included in the new menu is the Nutella Peanut Butter Shake & White Choc Strawberry Jam. Self explanatory if you ask me. Just try them alright.. Word of advice, if you are planning on eating all of the above, I would highly recommend playing some party tunes after and dancing the fatness off. Yes, I did that cos the menu made me happy.

Starting from humble beginnings in Fortitude Valley, Burger Urge has since grown into a much loved burger place throughout Australia. By the end of this year they  will have their 20th store opened, what an achievement. Opened by 2 brothers, the brand now  invites all burger lovers by offering franchise opportunities.

As a self confessed burger addict, I will admit that these guys are one of my favourites. The staff are always happy, the portion sizing is generous, they taste delicious and not to forget they are also reasonably priced.

So what, is my favourite pick off the menu? Well the New Yorker of course. Featuring a prime beef patty  with American style cheese, crispy bacon, pickles, smoky bbq sauce, garlic mayo, lettuce and tomato. One cannot simply, avoid this baby. Oh, and that bbq sauce…It is absolutely mind blowing with the bacon.

Their fries are also on our radar as some of the best in Brisbane.
