Warming up the Greek way! | Greek Club unveils new Winter Menu

We are 12 days into Winter and I can’t stop shoving my face with food! I am sure you can all relate? The weather is a lot cooler, and I am not going to stay warm with a scrawny, figure. Time to get some meat on my bones, or at least that’s what everyone’s YiaYia’s would be telling them.

If you are going to feast, may as well do it the right way with flavoursome, hearty meals. The Greek Club has just dropped their new Winter menu (Opa!) and yes, of course we were there to try it out. They have kept some of the old classic favourites with the addition of some new items that will warm your insides.

New dishes include:

  • SPETZOFAI ME LOUKANIKA – Baked traditional Greek pork sausage served with eggplant, peppers, capsicum, zucchini and garlic in tomato salsa topped with feta cheese. A hearty meal for winter.
  • REVITHIA ME HIRINO – Chickpeas with pork and vegetables oven baked with tomato salsa in a clay pot. A delicious Winter stew to warm you up.
  • SOUZOUKAKIA – Baked Greek beef meatballs in a red salsa served on a bed of potato mash. A warming dish served all year round.
  • GIGANTES PLAKI – Large white lima beans baked with onions, capsicum, tomato and herbs. A great option that is vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free.

Here’s a feast for your eyes:

FETA & OREGANO CHIPS

I have an unhealthy obsession for fries, but fries with feta….The food of the Gods.. Not that my health was a primary concern when eating this side, but they are gluten free. If you haven’t tried fries with feta, stop whatever you are doing and head to South Bank right now!!!! Now……..11893858_702457903224193_1970790922938018678_o CHOCOLATE LOUKOUMADES

Now for the most important part of the menu…dessert. Greek hazelnut, chocolate drizzled doughnuts with walnuts. Are your mouths watering yet? I could eat these everyday, all day. Priced under $10, I would save these bad boys for cheat day! In my life that is everyday!

The best Yiros in town | The Yiros Shop

Location: James St, Fortitude Valley

Meal: Lunch/Dinner

Pricing: $5-$20

Food: 10/10

Service: 10/10

Formerly known as Gyradiko, The Yiros Shop is one of our favourite Greek food places. With all meals under $15, we could not pass up on ordering both a chicken and pork yiros. To add into the mix, we also ordered the fries with feta and seasoning. One word, heaven. Truly a dish of the Greek Gods. The Yiros themselves, were full of flavour and the extra chips really packed a punch.

I must say, this is one of the few meals in Brisbane that would be happy to eat every single day; it is the kind of food I dream off. Thankfully they have now opened up their second store in Cannon Hill.
