Location: Crust Pizza, Victoria Point
Pizza is literally life. One meal with all your carbs, protein and dairy in a single serving, life is good. Don’t get me wrong I do love a good greasy, Dominoes pizza on a Tuesday but if you are looking for something a little more gourmet, Crust sure as hell delivers the goods. Their newest store in Victoria Point welcomed us with open arms and put forward a spread that was to die for! I honestly had no space to finish it all, and had to go and watch a movie after cos I was too full to drive.
So what makes Crust different to your local pizza joint? Well, they now have a range of healthier bases (spelt & wholemeal) catering for the more fit freaks. So really, your weekly cheat meal isn’t quite a cheat meal, it is actually good for you. They also make everything in store using a paddock to plate concept with all their lamb and beef dishes; so you know the food you are getting is fresh and not last weeks mass purchased, pre-made obesity. Oh, and the best part about their new Viccy Point store is that they have wine, and we all know how much I love a nice glass of red with my pizza.
With a higher price point than most fast food outlets, one may be steered away from Crust but I assure you the quality of their produce and the passion from their franchise owners is relayed across in the final product. It is simply amazing. I tried out their popular Mediterranean Lamb ($21) with house cooked Lamb roasted in Mediterranean spices, Tomatoes, Green Capsicum, Spanish Onions, Feta & Oregano on a Garlic Infused base, garnished with Mint Yoghurt & Lemon wedge. Serious legit-ness (yes, that is now a word according to me). The lamb was cooked perfectly and well flavoured; the veg and toppings were fresh and complimented the protein. So freaking good; and their pizzas aren’t half shrunken, so you know you are getting actual value for your money.
I also tried out the White Prosciutto Pizza ($24) which was equally as delicious. Sliced Roasted Potatoes, Thinly Sliced Prosciutto, Gorgonzola & Fresh Rosemary on a Béchamel base; unfortunately this bad boy is not available on a gluten free base but hey, yolo just eat the damn thing, it is delicious. The quality of the prosciutto stood out to me! I could not finish the second pizza, but luckily you can take them home and have it the next day (everyone knows pizza tastes better the next day when you are too lazy to make food).
